Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then located many other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; authorities are presently not aware of any harm in association with the incident," they added.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
An important political figure commented the attack rendered him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
