'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the nail-biting closing stages of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses following the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range strike from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess immediately hammered in the deflection before racing off toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This capped an unbelievable recovery given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the second half. During the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result secured a next round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's first-time shot from about way out going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that far out," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right flank after Orient changed tactics. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the City players who paid tribute to the way the underdogs played positively.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they always find their target and they understand how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It demands a strong mentality and attention just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has swiftly replicated that in his new home. At Orient he reunited with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a slightly green going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without serious challenge. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, excelling for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including two matches encounters against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This marks a remarkable path for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his parent, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's single match for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was closed owing to temperatures of -15C. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he recalls, smiling. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I felt I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a minibus driven by club employees, the drivers, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to socialize with the teammates but I'm planning to be the next one to drive independently and on the road. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on the Tube after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
